XpoLinux is ON!!!!

XpoLinux will be launched in just a few minutes, the second edition of what it plans to be THE event for FLOSS in business. The best part of XpoLinux is that is not just to sell free software but to create a business community and to empower this community.

We believe that business in Mexico and Latin America lack the culture necesary to make money. From my perspective Mexico is a very closed and reserved society who don’t look beyond it’s borders, except of course the US.

For the average mexican a business that make sense is sell to wealthy mexicans and to poor mexicans with dollars in the US.

The interesting part is that they believe their products don’t have the appeal for a world wide market. Mexico penetration in european countries as well as asian is almost NULL.

There are very few investment projects outside of the nearby countries, so setting an office in Eastern Europe, or South east asia seems almost unberrable.

Interesting enough just a few miles from the border San Diego is a mayor city to do exactly that, build mayor force with east asia including ports like Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and just get a massive shipment of technology that spread all over the country and radical enough… Mexico.

So will XpoLinux solve this, probably not, but it seems XpoLinux carry a new busines model inherited from the FLOSS mentality which is exactly a world wide mentality. The business objectives raise and the networking explodes hopefully beyond their national borders.

We live in a restrictive society where contries like Brazil, Argentina and Chile are actively looking to build bridges to other regions at the same time mexico is growing inwards and voluntary closing its doors. XpoLinux might generate high level of networking in the country, but will it actually make them look abroad the spanish speaking areas???

Wonder Why

Ok some more gf drama before she comes here. It happenes that she doesn’t not only tell her brother that she as a BF, but also her friends. The worst part is that this friends are thinking she is single and whatever…

So what is the harm, well is more like message she sends. I am sure most guys will be more conservative if they think a girl has a man. Also most guys don’t really care about that. But on the other side, and worst, is that the message that she sends to me. It makes me think that what we have is not worth it and basically that she is just having fun with me and nothing is really serious.

She might be right because at the end of the day I am leaving soon and nothing is really serious, but on the other side I think she doesn’t need to act like that.

I am still thinking how to react to this, I think I shouldn’t really react since there is no time for more fights… I mean I dont really wan’t to screw the moment when she gets here.

DOWNTIME!!!

So finally this server is back it took almost two weeks to recover. I guess the hurricane really hit hard down south.So my girlfriend still in cyprus and I have had actually been through a very volatile period where I was either very happy or very sad or just didn’t care; actually I am still are. I had other things to worry about and I guess now all my friends are leaving Romania, life is kinda monotonous.The only last exciting thing is planning this trip however I sense I will run into some money issues. I hope Ian can save me.

Forever update

So I decide to install my system from scratch when I found out that the kernel rpm didn’t work and I have to take some alternative routes including saving my CD on the HD.

At the end I just install the 10.1 beta and then update to 10.2 finally everything worked including the kernel and guess what.. 2006 Beta is out now.

I think I should start swarming the mandrivauser.org forum.

Buh bye girlfriend

So I am a bit down, my gf just left to cyprus…without me. Is sad also because at one point she said she would rather spend time with me. But that moment vanished in less than 12 hours :(I wish I coul grasp that event and be forward to it and would have stayed with her instead of watch her go. Oh well… on the bright side I will be able to save for the beach trip later this month.Now I might also be able to focus on finishing the site and once and for all have it working with no hassle.I really miss her and I hope this 3 weeks go fast enough. I can’t wait to be with her again 😦

Workin in INGOTs

This weekend I have a lot of work done on the INGOTs site. I finally finish the database model, merge the database with the spanish info and also put it on-line for testing porpouses.

So far so good, I still have some minor glitches on the username but everything will be done by today.

I also did the sylabus consolidation report and the INGOT examination, so great inroads in those areas. I think I will start getting some certified people really soon.

All an all a very productive weekend.

Dady, I crashed the kernel

So my system was fine this weekend, yet I manage to completely break it when I get a usb memory on the usb hub making the automount failed and with that the whole mounting stuff on my system.

My roomate wanted me to transform some of the files but instead it result in a total disaster when X broke then the whole computer as I send it to shut down, the monitor remained messed up (cpufreq) and when I started it, the whole mounting capabilities were a nightmare.

Root partition was read only, xfs was unable to being mounted so I didn’t had a home — again.

I decided to switch kernels to another one and that gave me errors on the X. So I wonder how the kernel could have been broken just because of a stupid USB.
